Zotac GTX 980 AMP! Extreme Review

The Software

Being a pre-overclocked model ZOTAC also include software to help you get more out of the card if you so desire. This piece of software is called FireStorm and it is able to monitor and display a lot of information from the graphics card.

Extract every ounce of performance from your ZOTAC GeForce series graphics card with ZOTAC FireStorm. Tweaking and tuning ZOTAC GeForce series graphics cards with FireStorm is quick and easy with an easy to use user-interface that presents users with clock speed adjustments, fan control and GPU monitoring functions.

Users new to graphics card fine-tuning can adjust the GPU and memory clock while keeping an eye on the GPU temperature and fan speeds with ZOTAC FireStorm. Advanced users can benefit from the voltage adjustments, GPU load, memory load, voltage load and power consumption monitoring capabilities of ZOTAC FireStorm for greater fine-tuning potential.

ZOTAC FireStorm supports up to five performance profiles to let users maintain separate settings that can be easily recalled for specific performance needs. Users with the ZOTAC GeForce GTX TITAN can take advantage of the latest Display Overclocking capabilities of FireStorm for faster response from supported monitors.

FireStorm has a modular layout, with this being what it looks like at its most compact. The FireStorm software has three overclocking pre-sets (under the Quick Boost setting) which allow for a quick and easy boost to the performance of the card without having to get your hands dirty.

When the Advance and Gamer (requires micro-usb cable) buttons are pressed in the software these two tabs appear which allow for far greater control over the voltages and overclock settings that can be adjusted. Some of these settings are behind software lock buttons and won’t allow you to change them until you accept a warning.

You can then save any changes you make to one of three profiles and in case of issues, reset buttons at the bottom of each screen allow for a quick jump back to the default settings on the card.
