devolo dLAN 1200+ Wi-Fi AC Powerline Starter Kit – Review

Conclusion

Despite this difference in speed to my normal wired connection, the speed improvement to my wireless has been a nice improvement. It’s also nice to see two useable RJ-45 ports as it allows for some extra configurations, especially with them also being gigabit.

The size of the adapters could make some installations a bit more awkward, especially with the AC adaptor as it is quite a bit larger than the terminating unit. For me I had to make a change to where I wanted to place the unit to make it fit. Although having the RJ-45 ports on top did make it easier to just simply plug in and go without having to find a port blind.

There is very little wrong with the adapters and the performance I would class as being very good. My main issue is with the price of the adapters themselves, at £159.95 they are a very premium product for a very premium price.

I would have liked to test them over a greater distance and I would have liked to test the Wi-Fi clone option (technical limitation of my router not having WPS) to get an idea of the performance there.

Overall I have been happy with the devolo dLAN 1200+ Wi-Fi AC Powerline Starter Kit and I am happy to give them the Silver Award!
