CM Storm Mizar Gaming Mouse Review

The Software

If you do go and dig out the software from Cooler Master’s site, you will find a wealth of options available for remapping the buttons and recording macros. For the software to work I had to run it as an administrator on my Windows 10 system otherwise it didn’t pick up the mouse.

You have the option of storing four profiles. You can assign a button on the mouse to switch between these profiles.

All of the buttons can be remapped if wanted. You can map an abundance of different options to a keypress; Including macros, shortcuts for certain apps, profile and DPI cycling options and if you wanted to there is even an option to turn the sensor off/on.

Under the advanced tab, it allows a more granular control of the DPI and sensitivity options. You can also control the lighting colours of the DPI modes and the actual LED mode itself.

The four DPI levels alternate between four colours (White/Red/Green/Dark Blue) when the DPI button is pressed, if you have set a colour in the software, a few seconds after choosing the DPI it will revert to this colour.

The rapid fire option on the LED mode flashes the light when you click it, not dissimilar to the Reaper, and the breathing mode pulses the lights on the mouse, I must add that this is not a smooth pulse like some other mice and it has quite a noticeable step. 🙁

The macro page is self-explanatory, it is the place to record and store your macros. You have the option of recording a macro as you perform it, this can be recorded with the delay as it happens or with constant delay which can be set as low as 12ms.

You can also change the execution, such as click to run once, release to run once, hold to loop etc. You can also quickly assign the macro to a profile and a mouse button.

You can have four active profiles at any one time, but you can store an infinite amount within the software which allows you to easily assign them to one of the four active slots.

The Library is another place where you can manage your macros. It gives you a list of them and a quick setting to apply or pull them from the mouse.

Overall the software can be a bit clunky when assigning macros and the like, but it is not too much trouble.
