Chinese GoPro Clone The SJ4000 – Review
Conclusion
I’ve had this camera for a good few months now and have used it daily for a long time, longer I feel than most other reviewers would normally put an item on test for. It pains me to say it but the SJ4000 is not without flaws, not the camera itself but the mounting brackets. Other reviewers have noted that you need to sand the edges to make sure the SJ4000 doesn’t slip. I noticed that after around two months of use the centre leg of the bracket I was using had snapped. This wasn’t too much of an issue as the kit contained a slightly longer replacement arm, however that fractured as well. This meant that I had to go out and buy another set of mounts, which whilst easy to find, was pretty annoying. I can probably say these fractures are likely due to the poor roads I cycle on causing stress to the mounts but it would be something to note if you plan to use this daily in similar circumstances. As an alternative at least you could potentially look into stronger aluminium mounts that seem to be flooding eBay, as this may ease the issue.
With that said, it’s still hard not to recommend this little camera. It has an LCD display to help get capture what you want, the recording quality is solid and it is still pretty cheap at around £60. Meaning it is still able to offer a lot, for those with the right needs.
