Chinese GoPro Clone The SJ4000 – Review
The Packaging
Firstly I was impressed with how quick this item actually arrived from China, taking only 4 days to hit my mailbox so firstly much props to FoxOffer the eBay shop I ordered from.
The SJ4000 comes in quite simple packaging, the box has a nice plastic window showing off the camera, which is available in a few different colours.
In my images I had already removed it to have a play with it 😉
The SJ4000 I received featured a nice aqua colour scheme, the power and mode button proudly featured on the front. With the select buttons on the left hand side and OK button on the top.
The menu of the SJ4000 is easy to navigate, though with a lot of options it may seem a bit much. Thankfully once charged up, with the default settings the camera is pretty much good to go.
As you can see some of the options you can change include the Resolution, ISO, White Balance and Sharpness and the categories pretty much self-explanatory.
Testing
Not much to say here other than to watch the video, I used the SJ4000 as a camera on my mountain bike, which has been during my commute to work.
So easy to see that when used in the waterproof case the audio is a muffled, which is to be expected. The quality of the SJ4000 is pretty good though. Although whilst mounted to my handlebars it does suffer from a lot of vibration related issues. When on smooth road however it is better.
Unfortunately I could not test the camera attached to my helmet due to the lack of a secure mounting point. I would feel that most of the vibration issues would be non-existent if mounted that way.
