Handheld games in your Browser? Yes Please!

HandHeld History

The Internet Archive are no strangers to emulation and they have expanded their online emulation collection  even further recently with a number of handheld games.

These are games that many of you may have had as a kid when you weren’t allowed or simply didn’t have a GameBoy.

It was 4 years ago that the Internet Archive started providing emulation in the browser as a whole, but with help of the MAME team these new devices are now ready to hit up and play like the good old days.

Part of the HandHeld History, the collection consists of many devices from the 1970’s into the 1990’s

You can read more on their blog over at https://blog.archive.org/2018/03/18/some-very-entertaining-plastic-emulated-at-the-archive/ it even goes into a great amount of detail over the care and effort that was put into scanning the backgrounds and overlays to make the game as true to the original as possible.

Of course if these handhelds don’t interest you, the vast cache of other games available will be enough to keep you interested.

You can play the original Tamagotchi ! https://archive.org/details/hh_tama

Or even Garfield https://archive.org/details/hh_kgarfld

Or Contra for those that might want something a little bit better https://archive.org/details/hh_kcontra
