It’s Happening!! (FF7 Remake on the PS4)
It’s actually happening, I can’t even really believe it myself. If you remember a few months ago I posted being a bit upset at Square-Enix releasing a PS4 port of one of my favourite games, Final Fantasy 7. It seems that after my initial disapproval Sony at E3 have announced that Final Fantasy 7 is going to get a full remake on the PS4 😀
The whole trailer above reminds me so much of that day that I saw the original PS3 tech demo. So don’t get too held up on the graphics on display, they are likely far more shiny then what will actually be in the game. Also because of the press release that Square-Enix has put out it would seem that we might be a long way away from being able to get our hands on the finished item.
LOS ANGELES (June 15, 2015) – At Sony Computer Entertainment of America LLC’s (SCEA) E3 press conference today, SQUARE ENIX® announced that it has begun production on the full remake of FINAL FANTASY® VII for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system.
Leading the development will be key members from the original project, including producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Tetsuya Nomura and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima.
It being originally a Sony PlayStation exclusive title makes me wonder what other consoles it might be released on. Considering that most current releases have released on Xbox and some more recently have received PC ports of their own, whether such a thing will happen with this game.
Considering most of the newer games have very different mechanics to Final Fantasy 7, I hope truly one thing, that Square-Enix do not fuck this up by changing any of these classic mechanics. I can sense that voice acting is going to be a part of it; if it is, please have three options (especially if using the VA’s from Advent Children) Japanese audio, English audio and no VA’s,
