CMStorm Resonar Review
Testing
Unlike the Razer Hammerheads, the Resonars are not sold as being in-ear monitors. Still they are closer to being balanced though than the Razers ever were.
I first used the Resonars as a replacement for my usual go to headphones, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the audio quality was when the Bass Boost was disabled. Rather than dive straight in with super bassy music, I tested various tracks from Buckethead which had a softer than normal tone. This included Shadows Between the Sky and Sunken Statue which have some really nice guitar work.
I then went on to test some more with the bass-fx turned on, this turned to some brilliantly upbeat Eurobeat such as Ayu’s MegaMix and some metal for good measure including some new tracks from Fear Factory such as Dielectric which have pounding bass as standard.
In game, they were just as impressive, it really is nice having a switch for the booms and a switch for when you need to be able to hear a bit more precisely
Build wise all the main parts of the Resonars are adorned in a nice gunmetal grey aluminium which offsets the red cables nicely whilst also giving a nice robust feel.
The tips provided with the Resonars are adequate and are as comfy as any other set of tips that I have used. With the correct tips they gave a nice seal against background noise and never became uncomfortable in my usage.
The microphone like others I have used on headsets is able to pick up everything else in the background with a matter of ease. Still the microphone was clear despite the background noises and never became a hazard.
