ZOTAC ZBOX EN760 Plus Review
A Closer Look
IF you are familiar with ZOTAC, they have primarily used Gold and Black packaging for their products even way back when I got my 9800GT (blast from the past there). If you are a fan you will be happy to know the Zotac ZBOX EN760 is no different.
Coming in a large box featuring a gloss print of the ZBOX square in the middle the colours are as vibrant as ever.
This being the Plus model the included 1TB hard drive and 8GB memory are also emblazoned in the lower corner. With the other hardware features adorned in the opposite corner.
As you will know if you watched the unboxing the rear has lots of information regarding the outputs available to you.
Inside the ZOTAC is protected by two large bits of foam, and there is also a large black box with the accessories.
Enough of that though lets take a look at the ZBOX itself.
Well it’s certainly small, in fact the Netgear router I have here to test is physically wider than the ZBOX which is a bit crazy.
With a gloss finish it might not be to everyone’s tastes as it will generally pick up fingerprints and dust fairly easy, although if mounted to the back of a monitor it should be okay.
Around the edges are the various ports, including the USB ports, dual LAN, Wifi/Bluetooth antennae, the SP/DIF digtal audio out, the power jack as well as the DVI and HDMI the latter of which supports the bandied 4K output resolution by means of HDMI 1.4b specification cable.
Underneath are four rubber feet raise the ZBOX of the ground allowing for better airflow and a recess to help you take the base off to go inside.
Held by two thumbscrews the ZBOX base is easily removable to gain access to the internals if you want to make changes.
The hard drive fitted is one from the Samsung/Seagate shelf and is the same as the ones I have currently have equipped in my NAS. Down in the bottom right, is the wireless card from intel and the mSATA port.
The cooling arrangement reminds me massively of my ZOTAC 9800GT from many moons ago, though with all the heat being exhausted out of the small chassis rather than back into the case.
It is very surprising to see so much space still free in a case this small, and is a testament to ZOTAC’s good motherboard routing.
