Razer Hammerhead Pro Review – From China With Love
In Practice
Razer designed the Hammerhead Pro In-Ear Headset as an in-ear monitor. I would agree with this if they had any semblance of balance to the audio. On the packaging itself they even state “hammering in the bass”.
True to that print, they do have some of the most impressive bass from a set of in-ear headphones I have had the pleasure of using. This had an effect on the mids and highs in most applications which caused some tracks to sound a bit blurred. I feel this is likely the way the Hammerheads have been configured.
Comfort wise, using the bi-flange tips, the Razer Hammerhead’s only became annoying after an hour or so of solid use. This was eased after changing to the medium tips from the included accessories.
The microphone, is generally clear but tends to pick up a lot of background noise along with your voice. The single button on the headset, at least on my Android device, played/paused music when not in a call. Whilst in a call a short press would mute the microphone and a long press would end the call.
The build quality of the Razer Hammerhead’s is good, the aluminium used throughout makes for a feel that could stand a fair amount of abuse.
The cable though is seemingly one made from special tangle cable and is instantly able to become a knotted mess if not observed all the time.
