HyperX Cloud II (2) – Review
Testing
I really liked the design of the HyperX Cloud Headset, they look really nice as a set of standalone headphones as well as a headset. The detachable and exchangeable microphone means that when using the Cloud 2 Headset out on the go they don’t look out of place, especially when the microphone socket is plugged.
The padding on the ear cups was lush and extremely comfortable, with the design of the ear cups providing a nice degree of sound cancelling. Throughout many hours’ worth of use I put them through they never felt uncomfortable, with the weight slowly becoming unnoticed.
The microphone on the HyperX Cloud 2 headset also performs really well, with clear audio in my gaming sessions.
The build quality is excellent, the metal band and brackets gives a reassuring ruggedness to the headset. The stitching also feels nice and strong.
To swap the pads, you merely have to stretch them over guides which hold them in place. I’m not sure how many times this will be possible to do before they stretch too far but I did it a few times over the course of testing and they didn’t stretch too much.
The in line control was nice, and offered options for both mic and stereo volume control. The 7.1 virtual audio was a nice feature and certainly changed the dynamic of the audio quite sharply. I’m not sure whether this kind of feature is a must have in headsets, but it is a nice addition when it is there.
The audio quality was spot on, and because of the seal around the ear cups the sound stage is impressive and resonant.
