CM STORM Octane Keyboard and Mouse Review

A Closer Look at the Keyboard

The front gives you the basics on both parts of the package. The Octane keyboard has 19-key anti-ghosting and seven different coloured backlights. The mouse again has seven different coloured backlights, four adjustable DPI levels (500-3500) which are provided by an Avago 3050 optical sensor. Cooler Master also cover the pair with a two-year warranty which is also a nice touch.

The rear of the box lists these features in a multitude of different languages.

The Octane has features a large space bar and a similarly large integrated wrist rest. Along the top are the 6 media keys. Sans backlight the keyboard maintains a nice understated look. The keycaps also have a nice textured finish.

Speaking of backlights, the CM STORM Octane has you covered for both the keyboard and mouse with the 7 main colours catered for. There are a few different modes the Octane keyboard’s backlight can be set into. This includes a pulsing backlight which can also be set to go through the colours one-by-one.
